In order for the auto-travel in the Dominican Republic to be comfortable and easy, you should prepare for it a little in advance. We have made a magic checklist that will help you pack up the necessary things for the trip and not take unnecessary ones.
1. MAPS.ME application. It can be installed on your phone to plan your travel itinerary. It works without internet. Well, in general, of course, the route should be thought out in advance: what places are planned to be visited, which road is better to get there, are there any gas stations along the way, etc. By the way, the Montecardo's staff will be happy to help you with this.
2. Offline translator. Not all Dominicans speak English, especially in small towns in the countryside. A paper phrasebook is also fine.
3. Notepad and pen. Can be used to communicate and bargain with sellers.
4. Phone, tablet, other electronics. All this should be charged in advance, and a power bank is taken with you just in case.
5. Copies of documents (passport, international passport, driver's license, etc.). Keep copies in the car in case the originals are lost. Additionally, it is advisable to send photos / scans of documents to your email or save them in the cloud.
6. Cash, namely Dominican pesos. They come in very handy for paying tolls and gasoline.
7. Several bank cards with small amounts: in case of one of them is lost.
8. First aid kit.
9. Drinking water supply, snacks + trash bags.
10. Everything for a comfortable siesta: blankets, pillows, neck collar pillows.
11. Sunglasses — the sun is active in the Dominican Republic.
12. Study the blog on our website. Here you can learn about traffic rules in the Dominican Republic, Dominican gas stations and more.
13. A playlist with your favorite music to create a holiday atmosphere ... but what are we talking about? In itself, a trip in a comfortable car along the wonderful roads of a fairy-tale country is already a real holiday :) Isn't it?
